Aston Martin is set for great things, having recently announced plans to grow its UK presence. The British heritage of this iconic brand is on track to continue with the opening of a test centre at the iconic Silverstone track, as well a new office in London for meetings and events.
The test centre is due to open this October, and will provide the perfect place from which Aston Martin can focus on testing chassis dynamics and high-speed handling. They will be based in a dedicated self-contained pit complex and will have exclusive use of a private circuit. They will also get access to a variety of circuit configurations and dynamic handling areas.
Stuart Pringle, the managing director of Silverstone is said to be delighted at the prospect of Aston Martin coming to Silverstone:
“Our two brands have such a rich British motorsport heritage and I look forward to working closely with the team at Aston Martin to build on our relationship and ensure the partnership helps deliver on key business objectives for both parties.”
While Aston Martin's Chief of Vehicle Attribute Engineering, Matt Becker pointed out:
“Every true performance car company needs a reference circuit and I can think of none more suitable than Silverstone. It is the perfect location to develop the next-generation of Aston Martins.”
The Aston Martin Test Centre at Silverstone is not just a positive move in terms of the development of the cars, it is also a positive investment into UK automotive industry. By 2022 Aston Martin have said that company-wide employment within the UK is set to reach 5,000, with Dr Andy Palmer the President of Aston Martin stating that “Aston Martin will soon become one of the leading automotive employers in the UK.”
This progression onwards and up can only mean good things for the development of Aston Martin. We can’t wait to see what cars are born from this brave new era.
